FOLUKE DARAMOLA SPEAKS ON HER MULTI-MILLION-NAIRA MOVIE

In our last edition we did a story on the role Nollywood actress, Foluke Daramola played in the breakup of the alleged romance between Bisi Ibidapo Obe and Dino Melaye. After the publication the mother of two narrated her own side of the issue to the Executive editor of Islanders Magazine and other pressing issues.

What will you say about a recent story making the round on your involvement in the Bisi Ibidapo Obe and Dino Melaye pregnancy tale?

I will say am shocked about everything I read in the papers.  I just believe that when you are trying to be good to people they turn out to something else, it is saddening. I don’t know how it came about with my name mentioned me at this stage. I used to know Dino way back and ever since then we don’t have anything apart from the time we met through an uncle of mine, Afolabi who was opening a club in London. He invited him as a law maker that was how I met him with Lola Alao and that was only contact we had . I went to Canada where Bisi and I met and she told me that she is pregnant for Melaye whom she got to meet through Lola I don’t know how it came to pass that my name was in position. While my involvement in the story came as a shock and I don’t where that came from.

But you were alleged to have invited the press for Bisi and influenced her to talk?

On the contrary I was at Bisi’s place with my fiance, Kayode to see her for a business transaction, that was why we went there. She was the one who granted an interview to city people meanwhile Mr. Biodun kupoluyi was calling me at that point in time and she spoke with Mr. Biodun kupoluyi and asked me what was my view on her granting interview and I told her that when you are pregnant for someone as a female you will know because everybody was claiming you don’t know the father of your unborn child. And if you are sure he’s the father  go ahead and speak it out, I don’t know maybe there is a spell on her not to say it out. And all she said was on her own. She was not under any influence she spoke her mind so how do I force her or will I be imposing on her to speak what will be my gain by wanting her to speak, I have my relationship intact, I don’t have any problem with anybody, I only advised her for her own good and the  unborn baby in question so that when he or she is grown up and if anybody asked her she will be able to say that this is my father and I told her if she is sure she should speak it out that was what happened. I don’t know it will later bounce back on me that I had relationship with him, Dino Melaye.

How did you feel when you heard this story?

I was surprised and I wondered why she did this to me I was only doing her  a favor maybe the favour I was doing  her was wrong or maybe going to her was wrong? I was surprised because I don’t think I have any issue with her I see her more like a sister and in her interview she said I took care of her in Canada, that is how I am, I don’t have enemy, I see her like my sister, friend obviously that means she does not trust herself talk less of me and I can’t call such a person my friend.

What was your advice to Bisi herself aside from the one you told me that turn round, what advice will you give her

Like Yoruba proverb say ‘’Iya lomo baba omo’ it is the mother that will know real father of her unborn baby’. If Dino don’t want to marry her its not problem but if he says he doesn’t know anything about the pregnancy, I think there is a problem there but I don’t know what transpired between them and that was the reason I told her to speak her mind because they have been talking constantly in to each other while we (Bisi and I) were abroad, Canada and I thought they had a level ground for everything. But I will advice her now to chew and take care of her baby.

What factor do you think  made Dino to deny the pregnancy

In any relationship there are peculiarities and you agree and disagree I don’t know what transpired between them whether they had disagreement or not I can’t say for them but what I knew was that they communicated well when we were in Canada

  What have you been doing?

I just finished shooting an English movie which am taking to the united Kingdom it’s called parent the waste age we shot in Epé and Ijebu-Ode, Lagos, we shot in different locations. We are not using popular faces because it’s just a cinema friendly project am working with Mr. kayode Salako and we are still shooting it, this is what am doing right now I want to start my reality show, Irawo Tuntun but am pushing it to next year but after the project we are pushing to international cinema and other International award. It was shot by chukwe Emma the guy that shot other award winning international movies, he’s very good and he’s known worldwide.

You said you are working with Mr.kayode on the movie, is he part of the group or he’s the financial back bone?

He financed the project with me and he also acted and some Yoruba actors like Funsho Adeolu, princess, Dele Odule even some out of country that came for the shoot

How will you describe the first outing of Kayode as an actor?

He tried, he was the features man with kind of job. I think he’s first acting he has a standard for himself in the industry. I think he just need not to get diluted. I have to quip him because I want him to be appearing in something different I don’t want him to just do anything because I want something different, he can do some good job.

How would you describe your relationship with Kayode?

So far, I will say we have a very cordial relationship, we respect each other so much we are like best friends, we do business together talk together ,we do many things in common. Also, he’s a great guy, gentle, compassionate and nice.

Are saying no love relationship between you and Kayode?

Time will tell. There is no how a mature man or woman will move together that things will not happen. Myself and Mr. kayode have no marriage plans. He’s my boss. He has marital issue which doesn’t mean I started it. Even before I met him he had issues with his wife. The fact that I have anything to do with him doesn’t mean I broke his home or I want him to marry me. As an African man lets assume that he desires to marry me being an African man I think he can have 2 or 3 as long  as he’s taking care of us basically it’s not a situation that Foluke Daramola chased Mr.kayode wife away because if he really wants me as his wife I don’t believe that there is any issue but for the fact that two people working on a project together ,we always work together share the same office apart from his office in school, it is natural we get close to each other and he gets close to me maybe anything can happen at the end of day what is absurd is dating someone like three or four at a time that is absurd as far as I am concerned I don’t think anything is absurd marrying two or three wives. Now, one thing I know in this life is never attach importance to what people will say about you . My grandmother used to tell me something when people talk about you it means one still exists. Kayode makes me happy and my children  loves to see him like a father figure it’s only natural I like him as well but if people are talking on marriage now that’s not an issue.

How much have you spent so far on your new movie?

The camera we used on set is almost forty thousand Naira  every day. So far we have spent fourteen to fifteen million Naira. We are still going to do the audio edit, colour treatment and some other stuffs and we are going to use a musician is a edge musician from Nigeria so still going spend more.

Precisely how much did you budget for it?

We budgeted 20 million for it.

With the Level of Nigerian Movie industry do you think you are going to make the money back?

Of course we will, because what we are looking for is cinema friendly movie we  are not looking at a video by the time is going to get to home video will have make our money back we are taking it to London, America and we also looking at taking it to United Nation. What we are talking about is labour education something that united nation are doing right now if what we shot out is what they want automatically we will make much more we spent

If Mr. Kayode continues acting, would you like to see him kissing ladies?

Am too mature in relationship than that, he’s doing his job any relationship am into I believe there can only be one me, am always special . One thing in life is that every man is polygamous in nature it only depends on the maturity of the woman. Even if he’s not acting if  he wants to play around one can’t stop him. I never taught of getting married because it’s not mandate to me.
