Upwardly mobile Yoruba film producer cum actor and one of the strongest members of the Odunfa Caucus of the Association of Nigeria Theatre-Art Practitioners (ANTP), Rilwan ‘Alesh’ Onilegbale is a household name in the movie industry because he has played great roles in the movie industry. WHAT IS YOUR VIEW ON PDP AND APC POLITICAL IDEOLOGY IN THE COUNTRYThese are two different political party and surely they will have different political ideology, different set of people coming together to make the party and since I'm a PDP member I think I'm very good to be bringing Democratic Party in party like PDP, because there is no time, any election is on that I don’t participate democracy, burning the national ruling party, it apart that have good plans and goodies for Nigerians in terms of democracy and being in power continuously can makes better that my views.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE THE GOVERNMENT OF GOV. FASHOLA IN LAGOS STATE?Governor Fashola started well in office with wonderful jobs, but on the status of the state now, I will tell you there is no too good story to talk about and I don’t want to talk about his government too much, but I know its not like the way it used to be when he came into power, like the increment of fee in Lagos State University, but like I said, I don't want to talk too much about the government, but I know if PDP take charge in Lagos state, its going to be better than this .
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE THE GOVERNMENT OF PRESIDENT JONATHANWe all learnt that America is a good country today around the whole world but they were behind for over 200years before becoming what they are now and as we all know, president Jonathan is not a magician before he came into power as the head of states, and he can not do everything overnight I think he is gradually taking it bit by bit and you know the situation where we are now, we have a lot of distracters that doesn’t want his government. Lets take the issue of boko haram for example, you can’t tell me boko haram is a good issue, I mean there are some people that are actually doing that just to make his government collapse and not perform very well but by the grace of God, he will come back.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE THE VICTORY OF YOUR PARTY IN EKITI STATE? Well, it is very obvious that the people of Ekiti need change, because in Africa for that matter, it is always very hard for a fresher or an incoming candidate to unseat the incumbent governor but the people of Ekiti actually thought they wanted a change probably because the regime of governor Fayemi wasn’t what they wanted and they took a very drastic decision by voting in governor Ayo Fayose whom everybody knew he did his best and the people actually make it clear that they wanted Fayose and not Fayemi, so you people should watch out. Lagos State already wants change too and come 2015 there is going to be that change.
WHAT IS YOUR POLITICAL AGENDA, And what do you intend to offer the people of your constituency when you get to the office ?Well, Ebute-Metta is part of me and I'm also part of them (Ebute Metta) and for some body that have been in Ebute- Metta for over four decades, I have witnessed a lot of government that governed Ebute-metta as a whole and I've seen a lot of members of House of Assembly that have represented Ebute-Metta constituency for the past four regime now, I actually know where they didn’t do it right and I'm going to restrict myself from unveiling my plans because your magazine is world wide magazine and now the people that want to be voted out if they get to know where they have not been performing well, they may actually want to pick it up and act on that, but like I said when it is time to have our proper campaign and preparation towards the election I will be able to say it out because like I said, I'm part of Ebute-Metta and I know where they have not done a lot of things, I mean ranging from the youths, environment, security and lots of things that are to touch peoples life they didn’t really do well and like an observer I'm watching from a vantage view I know how far they have done in not meeting up and I will take advantage of that and do something better but I'm not going to unveil plans.
WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING LATELY?I have been going about my professional duties, as an actor, actually planning to shoot a movie very soon while I'm making awareness about my aspiration for 2015 House of Assembly election then while I'm going to be concentrating more on my political duties at least what I put in place will keep my fans and my loved ones busy in my absent because after the election proper I wont be available for the movie things but right now am trying to make awareness and go about my party thing so I can become the candidate.
DO YOU THINK YOU CAN GET SUPPORT FROM YOUR COLLEAGUES WHOM MOST OF THEM ARE APC ?Of course yes, why wont I get support from my colleagues, we are like one family regardless of where anyone is coming out from, we all share brotherly, sisterly and then one family mentality which is actually what we are banking on and as a practitioner of movie and theatre I don’t think it contradicts anything concerning the entertainment world when its time for them to give me their support, they wont turn me down because I have never been ungrateful to any favours or gesture channel towards me they are all giving me their mandates and they are ready to support me.
