Exclusive Interview of Ex-BBA Star, Beverly Osu
I lure my junior to disvirgin me@age 15
+Why I part ways with my BBA mate lover
+My plans in movie and modeling industry

In the African entertainment industry the name Beverly Osu is a household name especially to those who followed the highlights of the BBA the chase season. In a no holds barred interview with Publisher of Islanders International Magazine, Ola Muhammed, the very blunt 23 year old Model and Actress shares her experience on how she lost her virginity at the age of 15years and other issues. Enjoy.

How’s life been treating you after BBA?
Life hasn’t been easy like you know ‘Nothing good comes easy’
What’s been happening after BBA?

I’ve been doing more of movies, I’ve featured in about 7-8 movies lately. I was a brand ambassador for prestige (a make-up line), and some other brands as well.
Do you have any formal or informal training in Acting?
I studied Masscomm in the university; I’ve always wanted to be an Actor. Before BBA I was already on TV as a video vixen because I love to dance but I never got the opportunity to dance in any musical video then. Later I got invited as a video vixen for some musical videos; I guess being dark skinned was my selling point then. I knew some movie directors before BBA so after the show I felt it won’t be a bad idea to venture into acting. It wasn’t easy but with God all things became possible.
Can you recall the first movie that you featured in?
I can’t recall the movie title but it was shot in Delta state. Other movies that I’ve featured in includes stolen lies produced by Nelson Jombo, Curse of the seven, which was the most daring movie I featured in because I had to carry a snake around my neck. I’m also one of the lead casts of the JENIFA’S diary TV series; we just wrapped shoots of the first season.
As an upcoming Actress in Nollywood, what’s your take on the financial aspect of the industry?
Like my friend and actress Belinda Effah says, ’Beverly do it for the passion and not the money’ for me, acting is a passion which became a business. Once you see it that way you won’t even think of the monetary aspect of it, yes everybody loves money but it shouldn’t be the basis at all times. Sometimes it’s all about building up a long term relationship with people.
Does your experience at the BBA show reflects in your personality now?
BBA experience taught me to be more conscious of my environment, it doesn’t change who I am. Before BBA I used to accept people easily but now I conduct a thorough research before accepting anyone as my friend. Before dragging anyone into my life I screen them properly. I’m always very lively on set ( which some people don’t like) ,  I’m open to learn, I take to corrections. My profession is just me being free spirited.
You said your experience at the BBA didn’t change your person, are you now suggesting that most of your activities in the house was a reflection of who you are?
In the BBA house, I was myself all through. I fell in love like a normal young girl would, probably the love was a mistake .The only difference between me and the viewers was the camera and this enabled the whole world to see me falling in love. I was myself throughout my stay in the house, I was friendly with everybody and I tried to avoid problems. It not as if I can’t tackle any problem that might come my way or I can’t address anyone who tries to show his/herself.

Were you surprised when you got evicted from the house?
I was super excited and very happy, because I was never up for eviction and I was in the house till the last day. It was a record breaking experience for me, I was glad that even if I don’t win I was in the house till the last day. It wasn’t easy being in the house for three months, having missed my mum and best friend; I was so excited to see the world outside the BBA house.
While stepping out of the BBA house, were you concerned about the reaction your family especially Mum about your performance in the house?
My mum was super proud of me though she corrected some things. M y mum came to pick me personally at the airport. My brothers based in the states were also proud of me.
Have you ever rejected a movie script, if yes why?
Yes, because I don’t want to be stereotyped. Some producers felt because I could dance I should always be giving the role of a stripper. There some fascinating stories that I gladly accept, I can play any role but like you know this is an African setting where values are emphasized greatly. I like to advance in life. I’ve never been static and same applies for my movie career.
You said you can do anything, like how?
Anything! I’m very daring; I’m so open to adventures. I don’t want to get to a certain age then regret not doing some certain things. I try to explore new things no matter how scary it is. I recall the movie I carried a snake. The director of the movie who happens to be my friend just called me that I should come to Awka; that I’ll be acting with a snake. When I got to the set, I had to call my mum to inform her that I’ll be carrying a snake round my neck, she asked me to speak with the director. She told the director that though she’s scared but she believes that I’ll be fine. The only thing I don’t explore is food; I’m not adventurous with food. Whenever I travel out of the country, I’m also on the look out for Nigerian dishes.
Talking about being daring, can you act nude?
Yes but the Nigerian movie industry isn’t at that stage yet. What they usually do is ‘make belief’ not going nude in the literary sense, like I did in a musical video and recently in the movie ‘stolen life with Alex Ekubo.
But can you act nude?
It depends on the director and the production outfit involved. If the director and the production company are professionals why not? I’ll do it but I’ll never do it for a wacky or tacky production because, personally I’m a movie critic. That is why I try to learn whenever am on set, if I watch myself in a movie and am not satisfied I’ll definitely condemn the movie.
In other words, you can act nude?
Yes

Is it for the passion or the money?
Both! I’m an Ibo girl mixed with Delta blood, so the money has to be good.
In other words you’re money conscious?
Yes because I have bills to pay or don’t you?
So money comes first before you take a stance?
Not really. For me the thought of money gives me a reality check at all times.
I recall when I was within the age of 5-6 years my mum would rather have me count her money because I was always accurate. The thought of money puts me in check to prioritize before the money comes.
What’s your relationship with your lover at the BBA house now?
It’s cordial. In fact we have a blackberry messenger group and we are united.
I must say that the BBA chase was the best of all seasons.
If you are referring to Angelo, yes I’m also close to him but we aren’t dating anymore.
Was the relationship meant for the cameras alone?
I wanted the relationship to extend beyond the BBA house because love doesn’t have a script that dictates your next move. Once you get smitten by love you’re helpless it only depends on if the other party is into you like you do. When I came out of the house I realised that he had a girlfriend, and who am I to fight over someone else’s property? So I let go having realised that he lied to me.
So there wasn’t really a formal break up?
No, he kept on lying to me that he doesn’t have a girlfriend, even when his supposed girlfriend released pictures via the social media. I recall him warning me not to publicise our affair via the social media, so it was surprising to find out he had a girlfriend via the same social media which he detests. Them, I had just returned from a trip from Tanzania when he called it quits with me via the social media, that was appalling. Though I had broken up with him long time in my mind.
When he announced the break up via social media, how do you feel?
I believe he did it just to boost his fame but you know when God has your back nothing can hurt you.
When you have good intentions God will always protect you. Yes, I got bashed from some quarters.
Some even called me a husband snatcher but now I’m in the most amazing relationship that any girl can ask for.
Can we meet the lucky guy?
Yes I’m in a relationship with money.
On a serious note, are you single and searching?
I’m taken!
Can you reveal the lucky guy?
No he doesn’t want his identity revealed.
Is he much older?
He’s within my age bracket.
I’ll be 23 years this year so he’s around 24-25years.
What are the qualities you look out for in a man?
I don’t have a specific quality.
I’m attracted to ambitious, hardworking and intelligent man. Money isn’t a determinant when it comes to having a relationship. I like someone whom I can rub minds with and who is capable of retracing my steps whenever am going wrong.
And you think that someone within your age bracket can fit into the aforementioned qualities?
So far, he’s been great. I’ve never dated anyone within my age group, he’s the first.
And he’s been awesome.
What’s your definition of love?
Some people see love as an indecent wish but getting so loved by lots of people from me is gratifying. I give out much love and receive loads in return. To me love is beautiful, amazing and it’s the only thing I live for. Love is God and God is love. When I fall in love I fall in love deeply. I’m still in love with my ex-boyfriends and am still in touch with them except one, though we follow each other via the social media. Love doesn’t fade, if I get a call from my ex that he needs my help. I will assist him willingly.
How far can you go to keep your relationship/Marriage?
I’m not married yet but I hope to get married in two years’ time.
I also wish to have seven kids so I hope to start early.
As regards my relationship, if there’s problem we’ll endeavour to discuss it.
I’m a very blunt person, I like to say things the way it is. And I tend to forget it as soon as we discuss it except you repeat the same thing.
Understanding and respect is very important in, every relationship. I’m a humble person inside out am not hyping myself, this is me. My boyfriend is level headed and amazing. We’ve been together for two years now and so far it’s been a beautiful journey.
Can you kill for love?
Yes, if I’m at the war front and a rebel is about killing my fellow Nigerian soldier why not? Because of the love I have for my fellow country man.
If a rival is threatening you over your guy, can you kill to have him to yourself?
I had a similar experience and I warned the girl to desist from such. I won’t kill in order to have my man to myself, I’ll rather come to an understanding terms. I didn’t know that the guy in question was in a serious relationship and I told the girl that ‘hey, why don’t you come to terms with your guy if indeed he’s yours’. ‘Perhaps you’re doing something wrong which attracts him to me. For your sake, I’ll avoid him’. Today, they are married with a kid, so that’s the real me. I’ll never snatch another man’s husband, because I know how it feels.
Do you belong to the school of thought that believes in sharing or snatching someone else’s man due to the dearth of single guys in the society?
There’s a man for every woman, even though the population of women is more than the men. My relationship has taught me that your divinely arranged man would definitely come. Though not very woman would definitely get married. Marriage isn’t everybody’s calling.
Love, sex and money, which is your preference in a relationship.
They are all important. Money gives you comfort, without money you can’t be happy.
I’m not really into sex. Sex can be tiring sometimes. I have issues with Money and love because sex is tiring for me. But I can’t place the one to come first between money and love. As at now money comes first sincerely.
Any influence in the movie industry?
I admire Joke Silva, a woman who is in the same industry with her husband and they are waxing stronger daily. I also admire Mercy Johnson and Dakore. I’m still new in the industry despite that I’m still famous. My modelling career is still intact, I would love to be like Tyra Banks and Iman.
Which aspect would you concentrate more on this year?
This year, I would prefer acting. If I’m to take up any aspect of modelling it has to be as a brand ambassador.
Is there anything you’ll love to change in your stature?
I used to be a size 14 but now I’m skinny. So for me, I believe I’ve had a fair share of body types.
They say I have hips even though I don’t see it. I have a portable butt which I’m comfortable with. I love the fact that there’s moderation in all my body parts. I’m okay and I think I’m a mannequin. My body is my pride.
So how do you maintain your body shape?
Through stress?
How?
Life hit me! Sometimes you find yourself in a situation and food won’t be your priority. I won’t even know when that I’ve lost weight. Anytime I get stressed I lose weight. I’ve never visited the gym; I don’t even understand how God does it. But I’m thinking of getting a waist trainer to have an hourglass shape and enlarged butt.
Then you still crave for a change in your body shape,
It’s just to give me an hour glass shape. Sincerely I’m contented with what God has given me.
What was your childhood like?
I was born in and bred in Aguda surulere in 1992. I lived there till 1999, from there I moved to Ojuelegba with my mum due to my parents’ separation. Basically, I lived there till last year when I moved to the Island after big brother. My childhood was beautiful, I attended good schools like st Catherine model school, Daughters of divine love (a convent school) where I trained to be a reverend sister but I was expelled. I later attended Dosec in Agege then Babcock University. I’m a tom boy I don’t really like being all glamorous at all times.
What led to your expulsion at the Convent school?
I was too extreme for the school, I was the social prefect and a band member. I play the drums for the school this is one thing people are oblivious of. During morning assembly I play more of secular beats than the gospel and this takes its toll on my band members because they were also from Lagos like me. The authority felt I was too much to handle.
You said you are more of a Tom boy, yet Tom boys are seen as Lesbians. What’s your take?
That’s a very wrong notion. I grew up with boys , I don’t have a sister. I’m in a relationship so there’s no reason for me to be a Lesbian. I wear male outfits because they’re my comfort zone. Most of the time I shop for male wears.
When did you lose your virginity?
I lost my virginity at the age of 15 years when I gained admission into the University. That was in 2008. My boyfriend then was in SS3 while I was in SS2.
How did it happen? Were you pressurized?
I initiated it because I wanted to experience it. It wasn’t really fun but the one after that was fun.
What’s the experience like?

I can’t recall. I only remember the sharp pain I felt in my tummy.
