American Jailed For Pinging In Nigerian Court


Megan Chapman, Co -Executive Director, Community Legal Support Initiative got jailed by an angry Justice Ofili-Ajumogobia who saw her pinging in court.
Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia of Federal High Court, Lagos, according to the Nationonline had jailed the American woman for making use of a cell phone during a court session.
Repented Chapman who learnt a big lesson after spending some minutes in a Nigerian jail has this to say: “I was replying an urgent message. It was not like I intentionally disrespected the court but I have learnt my lessons. I have apologised to the court for my action.
“The prison officers were kind to and treated me well in the short period I was there.”
She had come in respect of a fundamental rights suit her group filed against the Ojora of Lagos, Chief Abdul Fatai Aromire.
