Memo To Buhari’s Ministers

As a stakeholder in the joint project called NIGERIA, I want to send this memo to the just inaugurated 36 – member Federal Executive Council (ministers) to join President Muhammadu Buhari in the job of nation building and begin to add value to the lives of Nigerians.
The ministers should not be left to go on their own pace, it is important for the Federal Government to come up with a clear vision, with specific targets that every minister must buy into.
Upon the fall in oil revenue because of new developments in the global oil market, no one needs to remind the government about the urgent need for diversification of the economy.
The agriculture minister has to go beyond paper talk, in returning Nigeria to its glorious past when agriculture was the country’s mainstay. The private sector needs to be supported, while the government has to provide an enabling environment to facilitate investments.
There must be a total overhaul of the system, such that all loopholes for the siphoning of public funds by corrupt government officials are sealed. Also, this government must begin to create a working system that allows for creativity to thrive and supports local production.
As a matter of urgency, the government has to make public its policy on domestic refining, moreso, as the government faces many challenges, Buhari and his team need to quickly move away from electioneering sweet talks, to the serious business of rebuilding a battered country.
There is great strength in diversity. Our differences in culture, language, history and experience hold distinct advantages that can be of great benefit to the collective good, when allowed to flourish.
Leadership at every level must therefore recognize the lines that divide us and actively work to eliminate them. Nigerians look forward to changes in the country’s security situation, as well as in the provision of social infrastructure.
Having assigned his ministers, President Buhari must lead the cabinet, he is in charge because the buck stops at his desk.
Nigerians also are indeed expecting how the team will effect the desired CHANGE.
