Sanowo-olu, Obas, Honourables Grace Ikorodu Oga Day

The Ikorodu Oga 27th Anniversary celebration ended in a grand style on Saturday 17th November 2018. The event was characterized by honorary awards conferred on the industrious intellects who have made valid contributions in various capacity to enhance the development of the community. 

Shortly after the official opening of the programme, introduction of the dignitaries to the high table, recitation of national anthem and lkorodu oga anthem were immediately done while the welcome address was delivered by Otunba Ganiyu Olusegun Abiru Chairman, Ikorodu Oga Development Association (IKODASS), said the event has continued to be the pride of Ikorodu community as is the only event that brings together particularly all sons and daughters, citizens of this community with any discrimination of gender, religion, tribe colour status or family background. According to him, Oga day celebration has all the trappings of tourism, little wonder that the state government, in appreciation of the improvement, style, scope, glamour pomp and ceremony that characterized the celebration last year recognized Oga day as one of its Cultural activities on its Tourism calendar, Aburi said.

To this year's theme: "Cultural Values as Catalyst to Socio-Economic Development" is a testimony of our desire to use culture to promote our business enterprises, the Ikorodu Economic Summit that was organized last year was in pursuance of our desire to expose the community to business investors and to as well prove that Ikorodu Division remains the best destination for commence in Lagos state. He further revealed that this year's alone, there was a cocktail night  with Business Executives and Stakeholders in Ikorodu Division which afforded Business Executives, Government officials and stakeholders, an opportunity to network and ruminate on the challenges and prospects of doing business in this Division, Aburi explained.

The Chairman of the Day Mr  Oluwaseun Jayesimi while delivered his lecture on this year's edition of 27th Ikorodu Oga Anniversary grand finale "Culture Values as a Catalyst to Socio Economic Development."

According to him, Culture is the totality of a people's way of life which including the social, political,  economic scientific and artistic that aid development and name life easier and better in any given society while economic development is a deliberate involvement of government in planning a social engineering and effective demand management. He furthered explains Development means eliminating poverty, underdevelopment and inequality. The theme underpins the role expected to be played by stakeholders in harnessing social capital with government support intervention to better the life of its people. It is not a mutually exclusive relationship but a symbiotic one, said Jayesimi.

In an interview with the news men, said a united people are unstoppable because in unity there is a congruence of ideas, goals and efforts in realizing the objectives while urged the good people of Ikorodu Oga of Unity, peace and co existence for moving Ikorodu division forward and advised the people should start given back to the society. As Ikorodu is well known for good philanthropists for many decades.

Good will message from Executive Governor of Lagos State able represented by Prince Rotimi Ogunleye Commissioner for Physical and Urban Planning, I hereby congratulate the good people of Ikorodu Oga day grand finale and communal come together on the occasion to show your responsibilities as Lagosians  and proud sons and daughters of Ikorodu Indigenes. Using this great grand finale to congratulate Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi, the Ayangbure of Ikorodu and his councils.

As a government, we continue to partner with our communities and communities development association in order to enhance and ensure peace and  co existence of all people living in Lagos state.

In Ikorodu, we have done a lots of developmental projects and wish to ensure issues like culture, tourism
and arts are geminates and continue to deeply on our resources to sustains in order to bring cultural display to the good people of Ikorodu Division.

While expressing his gratitude Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi, the Ayangbure of Ikorodu and his wife, Olori Kudirat Abosede Shotobi, Mr Seun Jayesimi Chairman Organizing Committee, The Council of Bales, Olombas, Erelus and many other traditional chiefs in the Ayangbure's palace.

Those in attendance were Executive Governor of Lagos state Mr Akinwunmi Ambode able represented by Prince Rotimi Ogunleye the Commissioner for Physical and Urban Planning, The Royal Majestic Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi, the Ayangbure of Ikorodu and his wife, Olori Kudirat Abosede Shotobi, Oba (Engr) Bashiru Aremu Sotonwa Sekumade of Ipqkodo, Oba Richard A. ogunsanya Sisoro 1 Olubeshe of Ibeshe land, Honourable Wasiu Ayodeji Adesina Executive Chairman Ikorodu Local government and his Vice Princess Folashade Oba,  Honourable (Mrs) Adebimpe Akinsola Commissioner For Tourism, Art and culture, Mrs Abike Dabiri Erewa, Honourable Owolabi Salis Fakos, Mr Seun Jayesimi,Honourable S.O.B Agunbiade, Honourable Jimi Benson,  The Council of Bales, Olombas, Erelus and many other traditional chiefs in the Ayangbure's palace, Princess Abiodun Oyefusi and Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu governorship aspirant candidate for All Progressive Congress (APC) Lagos state.
