Speaking during the presentation of gifts to the beneficiaries the initiator and convener of the market traders initiative Aare Bashir Fakorode who is the Chief Executive Officer of Bash Distinct Oil said that this initiative program is part of the commitment of His Excellency Vice President Professor Yemi Osinbajo to ensure that petty traders have the urge for doing business and have access to soft loans without any interest and collateral but ensure to pay back the loans.
According to him, the idea is part of effort and commitment of the present administration in support of petty traders as the grassroots particularly those in need of loans to boost their businesses. The program is divided into three stages; to support petty market traders, render financial assistance through loans and educate them on business initiatives, Fakorede said.
He urged the traders to endeavour to pay back the loans in order to qualify for the next stage because the beneficiaries will have access to loans from #10, 000 upward to #20, 000 and more directly to the various beneficiaries personal accounts with the recommended established microfinance known with them within the market.
Meanwhile, Alhaja Jokotade Logun Iyaloja Obada Obalende Market Lagos said that this came as a big surprise to her and to the traders in the market and plead that the convener should endeavor to fulfill the promise made to the market traders on loan disbursements days to come. She said they are happy with this wonderful intervention from the office of Vice President of federal Republic of Nigeria.
She further said that Obada Obalende market is the only market in this particular axis in which they more of assistance and signage to promote the market and their trades in Obada Obalende Market, Logun said.
Speaking with lslanders Magazine, the beneficiaries expressed their shock saying this came as a big surprise.According to them, they never thought that theb program will come to reality . They said they are happy and appreciate the good work of Market Traders lnitiative and Vice President Prof Yemi Osinbajo for remembering the people at the grassroots with this wonderful program for given back to the society.
