Mikel Obi longs for Super Eagles’ return

Former Chelsea midfielder, John Mikel Obi has said that he “can’t wait” to return to Super Eagles.

Mikel has not played for Nigeria since their last group game against Argentina at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

The Super Eagles captain excused himself from international duty including four 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, qualifying matches.

Mikel took to his official Instagram page, @mikel_john_obi, and posted a cryptic message, a picture of himself in action for Nigeria with the caption: “Can’t Wait”.

The 31-year-old recently cancelled his contract with Chinese club, Tianjin Teda, a year before the agreement between the club and player was due to run out.

The midfielder will hope to play for Gernot Rohr’s men when they tackle Seychelles on March 22 in their final 2019 AFCON group qualifying game.
