Nigerian Social Establishment Celebrates Aro Of The Source, Alex Duduyemi At 80

The 80th birthday celebration of foremost philanthropist, society patriarch, lawyer and the Aro/Asiwaju of Ile-Ife, Chief Oyekunle Alex-Duduyemi comes up tomorrow, Sunday, August 9, 2015.
Alex-Duduyemi, a cousin of the late Oba Okunade Sijuwade, the Ooni of Ife, is a founding member of the Nigerian Social Establishment.
His 80th birthday celebration, which took several months of planning and preparation, was initially, slated to hold in Ile-Ife, will now take place at KFA Event Centre, Lekki-Ajah Expressway, Lagos.
We gathered that the change in venue of the birthday ceremony is not unconnected with the current ‘situation’ in Ile-Ife, which forbids any form of elaborate ceremonies to hold.
The initial schedule for the event was a thanksgiving service at St. Phillip’s Cathedral, Ayetoro, Osun State after which a reception would have held at Gity Event Centre in Ile-Ife, Osun State.
The King of worldbeat, Sunny Ade is billed to perform at the party. The colour dictate for the day is all shades of blue and silver.
Chief Alex-Duduyemi is a graduate of North Western Polytechnic, Kentish Town London (1957). He attended Lincoln’s Inn Law School, London from 1957 to 1960 where he gained his Law degree and he was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1961.
He is an Officer of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (OFR) and a Barrister at Law of the Lincolns Inn, London.
He was a member of the Federal House Of Representatives in the First Republic and Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
