Naira Marley Likely To Be Jailed, Says EFCC Source

A source at the Lagos office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has told us that singer Naira Marley is likely to be jailed.

The source stated this in light with administrative bail granted ‘Zanko Crooner’ Zlatan Ibile; his personal assistant Rahman Jago; and their house boy.

Speaking off record, the source said: “The evidence at the disposal of the EFCC to aid the prosecution of the case against Naira Marley is ample. A lot of evidence was found on Naira Marley’s laptop and on his phone, and soon he will be charged to court. He is likely to spend a while in jail if found guilty.”

This position is corroborated by a statement credited to EFCC spokesman Tony Orilade. “There is overwhelming evidence against Naira Marley; so we can’t afford to release him on administrative bail like Zlatan and the three others.

“That Zlatan has been released does not mean they have been discharged and acquitted. Naira Marley is still in our custody and will be charged to court soon and we will make the charges known in an official statement soon,” Orilade said.

Naira Marley, Zlatan Ibile, his personal assistant Rahman Jago and Zlatan’s house boy were arrested in a sting operation on Friday, May 10 for cyber fraud related issues. They were subsequently released in the evening of Tuesday, May 14, following the intervention of Zlatan Ibile” label boss Olamide and Burna Boy.

However, Naira Marley who recently released the video of his new song ‘Am I A Yahoo Boy’ remains in the detention center of the EFCC awaiting trial.
