She was practically everywhere welcoming hundreds of the crème de la crème of the Nigerian high society who came out to honour and celebrate her husband, a great man of means.
It is a known fact that gaining membership to the billionaire wives' club is no easy feat. In today Nigeria, it appears it’s easy for some women to come into the life of some 10-figure gentlemen. However, it takes more than a pretty face to be eligible and stay in it for over two decades.
At 42 with four grown-up kids, Folasade still wears a comely and fragile look that makes it assume she is still in her 30s. She is far from been remove from that slim-framed lady, who had the tabloids buzzing when she tied the knot with the business magnate Okoya a little over two decades ago.
“I have no fears at all; my marriage has stood the test of time, and I am not afraid. It takes a lot to keep and maintain a home. I am very confident of holding on to my marriage, and I am a loving, caring, honest and hardworking wife. My love for my husband keeps growing stronger every second of the day. I receive the same affections in return from him,” said Folasade while explaining why she’s confident of not losing her stupendously wealthy husband to the clutches of desperate women baying for rich men.
Of course, Folasade has unrestricted access to her husband bottomless deep pocket, she, however, has ensure that her life is not just about the usual razzmatazz associated with billionaires’ wives —dinner parties, social engagements and visits to clothiers and jewelers.
There is no gain saying that the tall, elegant lady has tenaciously worked to grow the Eleganza brand.
Inside the large office complex of Eleganza Industrial City Limited, Folasade could be seen working on the different files on her table as the deputy managing director. She is responsible for the day-to-day management of the company, which started operation in 2012. Full of class and always stands up gracefully, while at work, she wears minimal make-up but striking designers outfits and wristwatches dripping in diamond studs.

The billionaire's wife loves to exuberantly show off on the social media. In fact, sources said she has no scruples spending heavily to court the media —particularly the soft sells and gossip websites. She is said to have paid millions to grace the cover of various style pulls out of many mainstream media outfits. She was also said to have paid seven-figure quid to the influential Forbes magazine for a cover feature on her and her hubby.
All these, some observers said, are to create that presence of mind about her as Okoya’s novia! And this worked as many hardly remember that the industrialist has other women as wives.
Okoya has fathered many children from several marriages. His senior wife of over 50 years is the amiable Alhaja Kuburat Olayinka Okoya who had seven of Okoya older children including Tunde, Moji, Abiola Lanre, Bolaji and Taofick. All these Okoya siblings are relatively successful business personalities on their own right.
The glitz, the glamour and the opulence that surround the Okoya clan, however, did not necessarily guarantee that the older Okoya siblings would be spoon-fed, as they were made to understand from an early age the value of hard work, which is the only avenue to guaranteeing the affluence they were born into.
But among the high society, it is believed that Folasade has mastered the risky chess game of polygamy. How she was able to do that is a study for those young women coming to share —or intend to take total control— of the heart of wealthy polygamists.
Alhaja Kuburat, Okoya’s first love, is said to have since moved on after her husband embraced polygamy as permitted by his religion. The woman is now a born-again Christian—she’s now an MFM member— while most of her children are also converted Christians.
At most Okoya family functions that they all attend, it’s only Folasade that’s usually visible and everywhere while the real matriarch of the family, Alhaja Kuburat, would sit quietly in a hidden corner of the same party.
One of the Okoya sons once told this writer after much prodding on the ubiquity of their step-mum, Folasade, that in actual fact, they supported their dad having another woman when he clocked 60 —with likely support of their aged mother, Alhaja Kuburat, who probably could not withstand the rigour and razzmattazz that come with been a wife of a billionaire cum top socialite. That, perhaps, could also be responsible for the children's lackadaisical nature approach they exhibit towards the free rein Folasade, their father’s last wife, enjoys.
Sources said whenever they are together, Folasade —who once said if she had married a younger man, wouldn’t have lasted in the relationship— has a way of making her husband beam with smiles all the time. And her husband has never been a miser as he showers praises on his young, beautiful belle over this.
“I feel very happy. I feel very happy for her (Folasade)…She has been a very good wife, honest, straight forward, and hardworking. She takes good care of the home. She runs it well. I just walk in and walk out. I don’t know how she runs it. She is very hard working. She goes to the factory every day. Before 7 a.m, she wake up and do her duties and get to the factory by 9 a.m and she won’t leave the factory until 6.30 p.m or 7 p.m. She works throughout the day. That is what encouraged me to set up the factory,” Okoya said of his young wife.
It is obvious growing old with Folasade takes the sting out of old age for the billionaire, who is the Aare of Lagos. More than two decades and still counting, their union couldn’t have been by chance. Undoubtedly, Okoya has changed Folasade’s life in more ways than any can count and the woman never shies away from celebrating her husband whenever the opportunity arises.
