Covid-19, a world pandemic has been around the banking industry, killing some top bank officials too. With a recent development, it appears its impact in financial institutions is just yet to begin.
One of the biggest financial institutions in Nigeria, United Bank Of Africa (UBA) has been hit with the highest number of Covid-19 victims, according to information at our disposal.
A reliable source informed that the virus was contracted from a top official of the bank who travelled out of the country and just returned.
‘’Over 70 staffs have contacted Covid-19 in UBA, it was gotten through one of their top officials who returned from Oversea. At the time he got back, he called some officials of the bank to resume to office for an urgent assignment. Unknown to them, the man had the virus already and they had contact with their selves, over 70 of them has gotten the virus. They all have families that they might have infected with the virus too’’
If this is anything to go by, it’s definitely a time bomb waiting to explode. For a respected institution like UBA, resuming during the lockdown first of all is going against the government’s order, not maintaining a social distance is also going against the government restrictions.
It would be recalled that UBA gave out N1billion naira to the federal government to combat Covid-19 some months back.
