FG To Hand Over National Theatre To Private Company On Sunday -Lai Mohammed


Come Sunday 12th July 2020, Federal Government is expected to hand over the country’s number one iconic theatre, National Theatre Iganmu Lagos to the bankers committee and expected to run as a private sector driven art facility.
This was disclosed by the Honourable minister for information and culture Alhaji Lai Mohammed during a webinar conference tagged CLOSE THE GAP: Post COVID-19: For African Tourism to Revive,Reboot and Refocus to celebrate 50th birthday of the former Lagos Commissioner for Tourism, Art and culture Steve Ayorinde.
The minister said over 20 Billion naira has been earmarked by the bankers committee to revive some iconic arts facilities across the country.
He assured that the National Theatre would soon be revived to its old glorious days with other facilities to adorn the adjoining landscape of the theatre adding that the official handing over shall be on Sunday.
Among other speakers at the virtual conference were Mr. Folly Coker, the director General of Nigeria Tourism Development Commission, Mrs Akinbile Yusuf, Lagos state Commissioner for Tourism, art and Culture, James Macgregor, president Ecoplanet sari, Morocco and a host of others.
