ETI-OSA
EAST LCDA SHUTS DOWN BAKERIES AND RESIDENTIAL PREMISES
There is a saying that “Health is Wealth” that is
why the head of Department of environmental services and waste management of
Eti-Osa East LCDA, Mrs. A.A. Alagbe and the council manager, Mrs. A.L. Sanyaolu
and some health officers during their process of routine monitoring of food
establishment and premises inspection within the Council discovered that some
of the bake houses and residential premises does not comply with the minimum
health requirement to operate.
Mrs. Sanyaolu said, some bakeries and residential
premises were sealed up due to non compliance of environmental sanitation and
public health law, she said some of the residential premises have been sealed
up because they discharge their faecal matter directly into the public drains
and some of them does not have toilet facilities leading to indiscriminate
defecation around the neighborhood which is liable to cause spread of
communicable disease.
She appeals to the people of Eti-Osa East to be
watchful with what they consume and bring forth information on unhealthy food
handlers as they are ready to serve them better. She mentioned that some
residential premises within the council should strictly comply with the
provisions of all the necessary facilities expected of a standard living
premises as provided by the law.
The council will not hesitate to take proper
measures in closing down more bakeries and residential premises within the
council who refuse to comply with environmental sanitation and public health
law of Lagos State Mrs Sanyaolu.
