Youths to hold rally for Gbajabiamila

Surulere constituents will on Saturday hold a rally to welcome the lawmaker representing Surulere constituency 1 of Lagos State, Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila, who recently emerged as the Majority Leader of the House of Representatives.

Gbajabiamila, was nominated as the Speaker by the All Progressives Congress but Mr. Yakubu Dogara emerged as the Speaker on June 9 following a friction in the party.
Gbajabiamila was, however, compensated with the Majority Leader position after weeks of infighting within the APC.
The chairman of the planning committee saddled with task of organising the event, Mr. Agboola Dabiri, in a statement on Thursday, said, “The people of Lagos State are very glad of the gallant strives of Femi Gbajabiamila in the annals of Nigerian political history.
“The expectations of Lagosians were high during the speakership tussle because that would have been the first time Lagos would have produced a Speaker but despite the temporary setback, Femi Gbajabiamila, at any point, did not let us down, he exhibited maturity and respect for the rule of law during the leadership crisis in the House.”
As part of activities scheduled for the welcome ceremony, Gbajabiamila would be received at the airport by his well wishers and would head to the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, where the House Leader would address his supporters.
