NSCDC SUMMONS LERE OLAYINKA OVER ALLEGED FAKE NEWS

Authorities of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps NSCDC Ekiti State Command has denied the news publication on a social media platform that one of its officers attached to the government house was assaulted by the Deputy Governor, Chief Bisi Egbeyemi.

To this end, the command has said that the source of the story, who is an ally of the former governor of Ekiti state, Lere Olayinka would be invited to shed more light on the issue.

Lere Olayinka had on his platform claimed that the an NSCDC officer was assaulted by the deputy governor on Sunday morning, thus leaving the officer with scars on his ear.

Though the allegation was denied by the special adviser to the governor on media Mr. Odunayo Ogunmola, Lere Olayinka went further to post the picture and name of the officer involved.


Reacting to the issue the NSCDC Public Relations Officer, Mr Tolu Afolabi said the story was not true adding that the source would be invited to provide more evidences on the matter.

“I want to urge us to dissociate NSCDC from politics as we are in the Government House to protect Critical National Infrastructure and nothing more. My men are apolitical and politics is for politicians. Scoring political point with the name of NSCDC will not be allowed in any guise he said.

Afolabi said the proposed invitation was to enable Lere Olayinka assist the command with information on what happened perhaps the corps was not aware of the issue raised by him.
