Real Reason Oba Of Benin Suspends Palace Chief Indefinitely

The Benin Monarch, His Royal Majesty, Omo N'oba N'edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Ewuare 11, has suspended chief Utetenegiabi Omo-Osagie, the Obadolagbonyi N'Iweguae of Benin for gross violation of customary Norms and acts that are inimical to order.

In a statement issued by Donald Odemwingie, the suspension of chief Utetenegiabi Omo-Osagie is sequel to his leading a group of traditionalists to an unauthorized invocation of courses in a location in BENIN city, over the weekend.

According to the statement, chief Osaro Idah, the Obazelu of Benin, flanked by the secretary, Benin Traditional Council, Frank Irabor, who announced the suspension order, on behalf of the Omo N'OBA N'EDO, while dissociating the palace from the conduct of Chief Utetenegiabi Omo-Osagie and his group, saidt their  action is a negation of Benin customary practice.

Chief idah however posited "that in view of the severity and undesirability of the behavior of Chief Utetenegiabi Omo-Osagie,the Obadolagbonyi of Benin is consequently placed on an indefinite suspension with immediate effect.

It would be recalled that chief Utetenegiabi Omo-Osagie led some members of a traditional society to place a curse on people who were alledged to have been involved in the "bombing" of the residence of the former scribe of the All Progressives Congress (APC),in Edo state Lawrence Okah in the wake of the party's internal rangling ahead of Edo 2020 governorship election.
