Lockdown: Cultists Loot Shops, Burn Houses And Cart Away Millions Of Properties In Ajah-Ilaje

Residents of Ajah and Ileja community in Lagos on Friday, 10th of April as the unrest caused by cultists gave them sleepless night.

It was gathered that the clash between the two fraction ( Aye and Eye) reportly started exactly five munite past three (3:5am) when they started shooting and burning people houses. It was learnt that those living in that two communities couldn’t sleep until intervention came from the police who arrived around 5:00am.

When our reporter visited the scene to see the level of damaged in that community, We saw close to hundreds of security men from police, SARS, SSS and soldiers who were led by Area Commander, Gbolahun Olugbemi and District Police Officer (DPO), Oke Oluwasola who was just transferred a week to Ajiwe police station.

A house in Ajah town with eight rooms was burnt down and six shops were bulged and all the belongings were looted.

In Ilaje-Ajah buildings situated on a two plots of land were set ablaze completely without recognision and four shops were also looted.

In our findings it was learnt that this cult gangs perpetrate this evil act when they discovered that the soldiers deployed to the two community had left around 2:00am before they started their deadly act.

The speaksman of Ilaje, Mr Oduwole Oluwasegun who spoke said, the cultist started their evil act past 3am when they noticed the securities on ground had left and they started shooting and looting people’s houses and shops. He added that those boys didn’t perpetrate this act alone but with the help of over 100 cultists who were invited to caused this unforgatable damages in the two community. He said this is not the first time they will be witnessing such acts particularly when they are fianacially broke, they will loots shops or houses and attack people going for their daily business, collecting their money, phones and other valuable things.

"We also spoke with Ajah community secretary, Alhaji Kazeem Olarewanju Odunlami who gave kudos to the Area J commander, Ajah DPO and the DCO, Dare for their rapid response to the upheaval that happened recently between the miscreants and the communities. I was called by someone in Ajah around past 11pm that some boys crossed through the Ilaje transformer to the Olokonla area of Ajah in groups, vandalizing properties and valuable things. Immediately I put a called to the representatives of Ilaje in order to crave their indulgence over what was happening, they swung into action in order to resist the skirmish! But it quite unfortunate, it escalated but then I have called the DPO Ajah police station over the robbing scene of the miscreants. And they drove down to the scenes and dispersed them. Later, these miscreants started again before the twinkling of an eyes, shops and houses were set ablazed. I want the general public and police authority to known that there was no quarrel among the people of Ilaje and Ajah community because it’s not possible for the tenants to be warring with their landlords. “We gave some portion of land to some of them early 1940 and some purchased their lands from Abereoje Odugbese family of Ajah around 1984 and ever since they abode there we all lived in harmony and peace with each other.

“The unrest between the communities started some 8years ago when the miscreants were using the two communities as their battle fields and the representatives of the communities have expressed their to the commissioner of Lagos State command through the Area J command and Ajah Dpo. Former Commissioner of police,Zubairu Muazu, myself and Rev Oduwole Segun all agreed to form a vigilante groups that will have the government’s backing, so that they can help the police with vital informations about how to manhunts and flush away the miscreants from the communities.

Then series of meetings has been held with local government, Eti-Osa East LCDA but the vigilante groups were not yet formed in order to curbs the menace of these area boys within the communities. in order to buttress that the relationship between the two communities are very cordial, he said: we were the one that made chief Kehinde Ogunkeyi as their community leader. So that he will governed them and represent their interest before Ajah because it wasn't only Ilaje tribe living there but many tribes of Nigerian and Ecowas e,g Ghanaian, Togolese to mentioned but fewer.

Even the Ilaje people, a week before the upheaval started they were being chased and attacked by some of these miscreants from the community. I was told by the representatives of their youths that the miscreants hides under the ongoing lockdown activities to robbed Innocents people of their valuable properties. From our findings we believed these miscreants operated together and they needed to be flushes out of the communities permanently. I want to suggest that some flash spots of the communities should be focused more on. But I believed the representatives of ilaje will be able to say much about their area. Ajah flashspot are Tambola roads that is adjacent Olokonla street and whitesand, most of the miscreants normally converged there to disturbed the activities of the dredging company's and residents of the town.

Anyone that is arrested without proper identification by the landlord or co-tenants will be seen as the architect of the disturbance in the community.

On behalf of the Baale in council of Ajah that represented the entire Ajah people, we hereby gives a full support to the Nigeria police authority to make a constant raiding of the area boys away from the duo communities (Ajah and Ilaje) should continuous exercise and we pledge to give them a fully support in order for the protection of human lives and properties

Meanwhile, our investigation also shows that those Cultists has their hideout in both community where they stay after perpetrating this evil to avert arrest.
