Continue To Uphold The Lessons Of Ramadan, Oba Elegushi Urges Muslims as he Celebrates 17 years of marriage

As Muslims in Nigeria joins the rest of the world to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitri, marking the end of the Ramadan fast, prominent Lagos monarch, the Elegushi of Ikate Kingdom, Oba Saheed Elegushi has urged the Islamic faithfuls not to abandon the lessons of the Holy Month of Ramadan, even as the 30days fasting comes to an end.

In his Sallah message sent to The Drum Online by Tope Oyefeso, Special Assistant on Public Affairs to Oba Elegushi, the monarch said the lessons of tolerance, forgiveness and charity, as exemplified in the holy month of Ramadan must continue, even after and should always be the guiding principles of all Muslims and Nigerians in gemeral.

He admonished all well-meaning individuals to continue to support the less privileged, particular at this unusual times that the world is battling the covid-19 pandemic, which has affected the economy of almost every country of the world and the standard of living of the people.

“I urge my Muslim brothers and sisters to continue to show love, even as we end the month long fasting. We must give helping hands to those in need, especially as we try to get back to normalcy from the pandemic. It is now more than before, that we must be our brother’s keeper”, the monarch added.

He equally advised those celebrating to be modest in their celebration and continue to obey all the safety measures in place to reduce the community transmission of the deadly coronavirus.

His message on his 17th years of Marriage

Which of the favours of Allah shall we deny? (Quran 55 vs 13)
17years ago, when we started this journey, it was with mixed feelings; one, there was love, true love that existed between us; secondly, the anxiety that comes with two young minds deciding to live as one.
From our humble and modest beginning, we've come this far and gotten better and proven to the world that ours is an inimitable choice.
Join me in thanking my Olori for all she has been. I thank you for our amazing Angels; I thank you for the peace; I thank you for the love; I thank you for bringing finesse, panache and reverence to this Stool and the kingdom; I thank you for your firm belief in our collective dream.
Only you could have started and steered this ship.
I pray Almighty Allah will continue to keep us safe in love, sound in good health and successful in all our affairs, till forever.
Happy Anniversary to us.
