LEKKI RESIDENCE CONDEMNS TOLLING OF LEKKI-IKOYI LINK BRIGDE
SAY: NO DIVIDENDS OF DEMOCRACY IN LEKKI AND IT’S ENVIROS
Many residents of Lekki, Ajah, Epe and enviros condemned and challenge Lagos State governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola on dividends of democracy. This challenges came as a result of newly commissioned elecrofial bridge that link Lekki phase one and Ikoyi which is been toll by State government. Some of those speak to Islanders said if the State government dualized Lekki-Epe Express Way and desired to toll it with high rate and now tolling of another road (bridge) within the same area and local government is barbaric and act of autocratic leadership. They maintained that if the major road is been toll and the bridge use government as no plan to do anything for them living in that area. Imagine no good roads in all this so called rich man area, no water, no electricity, health Centre and other dividend of democracy they supposed to be enjoying as a tax payer and law abiding citizen of Lagos. The State government (Fashola) claimed that Lekki-Epe Express way has been signed before it’s government (Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu tenure) which he as not or little to rivert back the decision. But what about the newly commission (Lekki-Ikoyi) bridge built by this incumbent government with tax payer money and the government still went ahead to toll it without consulting the people of that area on the tolling or fee to be taking but just to imposed their own fee.

They added that Lekki-Epe express Way toll should an alternative road while the Lekki-Ikoyi bridge should be toll for those who felt they in hurry should ply the alternative root (Lekki-Ikoyi bridge). The less than two kilometer toll is as follow; Motocyclre= 100 Naira, car=250 Naira, Jeep=300 Naira and Coatser bus= 400 Naira. Meanwhile, truck is not allow on the bridge as they had barricade the entrance of the bridge to and flo.
